Save the Date for Sept. 22 Madison-Andersen Awards Event

The Washington Coalition for Open Government’s annual Madison-Andersen Awards breakfast will take place Friday morning, Sept. 22 at the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle.

The event honors outstanding contributions to open government efforts, and involves three key awards: The James Madison Award, recognizing a long-term commitment to the cause of open government; the James Andersen Award, for an individual or organization that has done extraordinary work advancing WashCOG’s efforts; and the Ken Bunting Award, honoring exceptional journalistic work that supports and demonstrates the importance of open government.

The Madison Award honoree for 2017 is the late Kris Passey, a longtime local journalist, writer, and open government advocate. The former publisher of the Marysville Globe and Arlington Times was a founding member of WashCOG and a two-term president.

Nominations will be accepted soon for both the Andersen and Bunting Awards.

Individual tickets will go on sale soon, and tables can be reserved now for $500 by contacting the WashCOG offices at info@washingtoncog.org or (206) 782-0393.
