Reservations open for annual Sunshine Breakfast

FEB. 2, 2024 — Reservations are being accepted now for WashCOG’s annual Sunshine Breakfast, which will take place on Friday, March 15, 2024 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. The event recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions to open government efforts in 2023.

The doors open at 7:30 a.m. and the program begins at 8:15 a.m. Individual tickets cost $35 each, and a table for 10 costs $350. Donations are also welcome.

Among the presentations will be the Toby Nixon Award, which is the Coalition’s lifetime achievement award. named after President Emeritus Toby Nixon. It is given yearly to an individual or organization whose long-term commitment to the cause of open government is demonstrated through exemplary words or deeds.

Also to be recognized is the 2023 recipient of the James Andersen Award, given to the Coalition’s volunteer of the year. It recognizes the efforts, often behind the scenes, of WashCOG members in promoting the Coalition’s missions.

A Pacific Northwest media organization will receive the Kenneth F. Bunting Award for outstanding journalism.

Other honorees will include winners of a WashCOG Key Award, which are given periodically for any party that has done something notable for the cause of open government.

Parking is free on site, and tours of the ballpark will be offered after the event.
